Today

I sent this to my Election season cohort of leaders this morning.

“Friends,

Here’s what I’m thinking rough guidelines for myself today are:

a) do no harm to myself or other people

b) feel it all

c) write to uncover what is feeling important and unimportant to me

d) drink water and eat as I'm able

This feels disappointing and horrific and scary at a cellular level to me. Amanda Seales, the comedian and activist often quips (when something racist, sexist, xenophobic, etc happens) “I hate it here.” I feel that right now. And then feel weird for feeling that. And then feel justified in feeling it.

I am betting there will be lots of looping thoughts and feelings in the coming hours, days, week.

Oxygen masks on first today, my people. We are needed. Unclear for exactly what just yet. But certainly.

Thinking of each of you and grateful we are tethered by our shared values. Please be gentle with yourselves today. And if you need to scream or wail or punch inanimate objects - that all falls within totally reasonable reaction behavior to me.”

PS: I find this short and clear at this moment, Watch here.

Love,
